1 c. raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 c. quick-cooking oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Simmer the raisins in the water over low heat until the raisins are plump (20 to

the oven to 400 degrees. Cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in the raisin liquid.
Blend the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Combine well with the creamed mixture.
Stir in the oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for
8 to 10 minutes.
