1 lb. ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (14 1/2 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1/4 c. Chianti wine, plain wine, or wine vinegar
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 to 3 c. water
Brown the ground beef, onion and green pepper in a large skillet or Dutch oven with
a tight fitting lid. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Simmer for 3 hours, adding water as needed. Cook
down to a thick sauce. Let stand for a while before serving over pasta, topped with Parmesan cheese. (Remeber
to remove and discard the bay leaf before serving.)
