3 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
6 eggs
3 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. Fresca (or similar soft drink)
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 T. grated lemon rind
1 T. grated lime rind
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the sugar, butter and shortening. Add the eggs,
one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the flour and the Fresca alternately. Add the baking powder, and
when the mixture is fully creamed, add the vanilla and the fruit rinds. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch
baking pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Frost with Maraschino Frosting.
