1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. molasses
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
granulated sugar
Cream together the sugar and shortening; add the eggs and molasses. Sift together the flour, baking
soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and salt; add to the sugar mixture. Roll the dough into balls the size of walnuts;
coat each ball with the granulated sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen.
