1/2 c. butter-flavored shortening, melted
2 eggs
2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Beat the eggs until light and
foamy in a large bowl with an electric mixer. Beat in the brown sugar, vanilla, and melted shortening until creamy.
Combine the flour with the baking powder and salt; add to the egg mixture. Mix at low speed until blended. Stir
in the nuts at low speed (the mixture will be stiff). Spread the mixture evenly in the greased pan. Bake for 25
to 30 minutes, or until the top is light brown. Let cool 10 to 15 minutes, then cut into squares.
